"The Empty World" - Easily the weakest track on THE TOP, it features a military march on drums and a keyboard line that sounds like a Revolutionary War flute. It also explores THE TOP's central motif - altered mind states. *** "Bananafishbones" - Possibly Smith's most wigged-out, warped and psychedelic song ever and the best song on THE TOP/5().
General CommentIt's about war. And it's a shitty song in my opinion. Parts of it sound like wannabe Rage gone bad. Verses sound bad and the hook ain't much either. I don't know what these guys were thinking on this album. Most of the tracks are garbage. It's disappointing to me because I really used to like .

"Slippin' into Darkness" is a song written and performed by War. It reached #12 on the U.S. R&B chart and #16 on the U.S. pop chart in It was featured on their album All Day Music.. This song is an unusual blues form with the first lines being repeated, in an African and Latin rhythm.
Aside from "Feels Like the First Time" and "Cold As Ice," the other songs on this classic Foreigner album are good or decent overall. They do sound like a collection of B-sides (which is pretty typical of this band's albums), but they're still good. And (as of this review, anyways) the CD version is only $, so it's certainly a good bargain.
I wanted to buy a compilation of War music that had more than a handful of their hits, and this 2-CD set more than fulfilled my wishes. Yeah, it's got all the hits, but we also are given a generous bunch of cool album tracks (as others have noted, some of these are abridged versions), including some instrumentals, along with less popular, but /5(97).
